Wow...I thought I had missed the reunion. For some reason I thought it was LAST July (and apparently, I'm not the only one,so..)I left Chibougamau in 77 or 78 and have been back a few times since. I've found the town hasn't really changed that much. I'm really looking forward to seeing my old friends. Karen & Kathy Hurley, Nancy Bedard, the two Nathalies (in the 3rd grade), some of the teachers, my favorites being Mrs. Goss, Miss Jackman and Vera Kennedy. Boy did we DREAD starting 5th grade! I unfortunately didn't get the chance to graduate from Holy Family, but am looking forward to the reunion. By the way, does anyone have contact with either Sylvie Marchand or Nancy Bedard? I was only at Holy Family for one year and graduated in 1972. At that time I was in the Air Force Police and attended school on a part time basis. I was the only student with a mustache as I noticed when I looked at my picture. I have just read through the guestbook and had to smile when I saw Joseph Pawlokowski's name and Kathy O'Grady"s comments as well. I know I would not recognize them now; but in my minds eye I can see their faces of over 30 years ago. I taught grade 3 in Chibougamau for 2 years (1969-71). It was a great exerience and I learned to curl there with Maureen as my first teammate. I certainly hope to get to the reunion. I don't expect to be remembered by many of my students as I was there such a short time; however it will be interesting to see how the little ones have grown up.

Many knew me when I was a Gr.2 teacher as Mrs Peterson back in 1973 to 1977.
I've come a long way! I MARRIED Mr Okolowsky in 1978 (and I teach Kindergarten). Gerry and I are both in pre-retirement this year. We have 2 grown-up children. My own, Eric and Vicky Peterson have made us grand-parents twice.

WOW! I get this phone call tonite from Marc (Beauvais) telling me that there is a reunion in 2002. Called up Nat and got some names down to help retrace someof them. 2 hours of flashbacks and memories coming back to me. Incredible. You can be sure I am going to be there. What a shock to receive a phone call asking: "Did you go to Holy Family High?" Immediately, I had a flash of warm and wonderful memories as that one year in Grade 10 blast through my mind, before urgently answering "...but OF COURSE I went to HFH ... Mr. Hurley, Miss...our-English- teacher-that-brought-us-to-Quebec-City-trip ... Filion! yes thank you Fern, your sister Miss Filon, and...Kelly,and...Josette, and... and..."
Wow! I'd been through SEVEN different schools in Ontario, then Quebec, then Ontario again, before graduating from high school -and nothing had ever hit me closer to the heart than this flashback from that one year spent at Holy Family High. I could FEEL that year as if it was yesterday, but I just couldn't remember all the names. But the car washes, the walk-a-thon, the trip to Quebec City, Jesus Christ Superstar (the music and "the Essay"), learning REAL English for the first time -even English I had never heard of "..wouldst thou..", arguing with my father that a table was feminine just like a chair was (all previous years having been in French schools). "Did I go to Holy Family High?" was the question and right now, I'm so glad I did. I can't wait till next year and see you all, and touch a piece of the past.

I was the phys ed teatcher at HFS from 1980 to 1987, also teaching biology,ecology,arts,french,or any other job that Mr Henri Lortie would give me. I was also a Chibougamau resident for 30 years. I went to HFH in 1963 (grade 1)-65/66, when we moved away.
I had two brothers, George and Joseph who also attended.
My best friend was Mary Korczynski, who I still have contact with! She called me tonight to inform me about the reunion. I think it is remarkable that people go to such extends to reunite old friends! I remember Miss Babin, Miss Haslam. I see the old picture of the school and memories start to come back. Some of you may recall that the original HFS was across the street in what today is the school board office. That's where I began teaching in Chibougamau. I'm probably the staff member who was there the longest...I recall that they actually changed the furniture at least three times during my tenure (and principals too!). I began in Sept.'60 and was there 'til June '67; I resumed my position in Sept.'69 and resigned in '76. It was a wonderfully rewarding period in my life.I'm retired now and presently residing in Val d'Or.
Such a flood of memories...winter carnival activities and parades, flight to Stratford, Ontario, first walk-a-thon to Chapais, graduations, school dances, terrible bus accident, trips to Quebec City, Montreal, Ottawa, St. Felicien, school uniforms, Petunia (skunk mascot), beach party at Lake Cumings, green from hair to toes, great staff parties...and the list goes on!
Congrats to Fern, Nathalie, and Harry for undertaking this monumental organizational task---Mary, Lynne, Ginette, Carol, Suzanne, Georgette and I (organizors of the '82 reunion) can and do assure you that it really is worth all the time and effort!
God-willing, I'll certainly be at the reunion and look forward to seeing everyone there. It promises to be a real "family" gathering!

This is going to be a great reunion, guaranteed in advance.I do hope all my friends will answer quickly, and send Nat all the names they have to make this bigger & bigger , even if you think Nat has those names already.
I participated in the other reunion about 19 years ago, and it had been a real SUCCESS... such a nice feeling to see people with whom we grew up,..people that made an important impact on our lives.It's wonderful to have the Internet technology to reach as many people as we can, and it is even more wonderful to have devoted people like Nat, Fern & Harry to push things....Congratulations!
