1973/1974                      1975

My ties to Holy Family School, albeit closer at times than others, span the years 19621 to 1994 i.e. from its initial opening to its closing.  My attendance at Holy Family would lead me to meet two of the most important people in my life :  Ann Bubar with whom I still share my life and Normand Bédard with whom I developed a friendship that still lasts some forty years later.

After graduating from Holy Family in 1965, I decided to pursue a teaching career.  I taught at Holy Family between 1968 and 1975, taking two years off during this period to complete a B.ED. at McGill University.

In 1975, I switched over to the french sector of our School Commission to take a position as vice-principal of Vinette School.  In 1976, I became the principal of École Notre-Dame-du-Rosaire in Chibougamau, a position which I still hold today.  From 1990 to 1994, I was assigned the added responsibility of the principalship of Holy Family School.  Due to declining student enrolment (there were only nine (9) students left from grades one to six in 1994)2., I had to recommend the revocation of Holy Family’s establishment act which the School Commission accepted.  The school officially closed on June 30th, 1994.  Iris Mc David was the last teacher.

I have decided to retire at the end of the present school year, after a most rewarding career and satisfying personal life in Chibougamau.  Congratulations to Harry Gauthier for the fantastic work on the Holy Family web site and all the people working on the school reunion in 2002!
